Will this action figure be restocked or reprinted?
Last updated . Store and reissue details checked .
Short answer: maybe, but nobody publishes a schedule. Stores sometimes restock, and manufacturers sometimes reprint popular figures, especially ones with high aftermarket prices. Exclusives and chase variants usually don't come back. The reliable sign is a new preorder listing, and reissues are usually announced months before they ship.

Restock, reprint or reissue: what's the difference?
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Restock | A store gets more of an item it sold out of. Same figure, same packaging. |
| Reprint or reissue | The manufacturer makes a new batch of a figure it already released, sometimes in new packaging such as a retro-style card. |
| Updated re-release | An older figure brought back with changes, such as a new head sculpt or face scan, better articulation or new packaging. |
| Repaint or repack | An existing mold in new colors, or the same figure in new packaging. Related to the original, but not the same item. |
Does Amazon restock "currently unavailable" items?
- Sometimes, but there's no schedule. "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock" usually means nobody is selling that listing right now, neither Amazon nor any other seller. It can come back if Amazon or a seller gets more stock, or it may not.
- The price when it returns isn't guaranteed. In our experience, when Amazon itself comes back in stock on a sold-out figure, it sometimes sells at the regular retail price and sometimes higher, and we haven't seen a reliable pattern.
- Get alerted instead of checking. Free trackers such as Keepa and CamelCamelCamel can email you when an Amazon listing's price changes or it comes back in stock, and show its price history.
How Hasbro and Mattel bring figures back
Hasbro (Marvel Legends, Star Wars: The Black Series)
- Reissues are announced at Hasbro's fan events, such as its Marvel Legends fan streams and Hasbro Pulse Con, then go up for preorder, often as "Fan Channel" exclusives sold through Hasbro Pulse and participating retailers.
- Popular, expensive figures get picked. Marvel Legends Power Princess was selling for over $100 on the aftermarket before Hasbro reissued it at $27.99, with preorders opening November 10, 2025.
- Even exclusives can return. Retro Venom, a 2021 Hasbro Pulse Con exclusive, was reissued in 2026 at $34.99, with preorders in August and shipping planned for December.
- Retro-card repacks are common. At its September 10, 2026 fan stream, Hasbro revealed retro-carded versions of earlier Spider-Man figures (Mary Jane Watson, Aunt May, Smythe and Carnage), with preorders opening September 29.
- Star Wars has a dedicated reissue line. The Black Series Archive brings back previously released figures, focusing on hard-to-find ones with high aftermarket prices.
- Hasbro Pulse posts back-in-stock items most Fridays, by its own account, and its account notifications can alert you to them.

Mattel (WWE)
- WWE figures come back through re-release lines, not exact reprints: WWE Elite Greatest Hits, Greatest Hits Legends (at Target) and From the WWE Vault (a Ringside Collectibles exclusive).
- The re-releases are updated, usually with improved face scans, modern articulation and new packaging. Because they aren't identical, some collectors still want the original, but a re-release gives most buyers a cheaper way to get the same wrestler and look.

What decides whether a figure comes back
Nobody outside the manufacturer knows for sure. These are the factors that matter, not a formula:
- Demand that outlasts the first run. A figure that sold out fast and still sells for well over retail is exactly what reissue programs look for. A high aftermarket price is part of what invites a reprint.
- Pop-culture catalysts. A new movie, show or game featuring the character raises demand, and manufacturers bring back figures to meet it.
- Mass-market vs. collector-only lines. Gift buyers drive volume: a grandparent buys the most popular version of a famous character, not a niche collector figure. Mainstream characters in kids' lines are more likely to be restocked than collector-only releases.
- How many were made. Print-run sizes vary by line and manufacturer, and nobody publishes them.
What usually doesn't come back
- Exclusives sold by one retailer, a manufacturer's own store or at a convention. Usually they stay gone, though Retro Venom shows it isn't never.
- Chase variants, which are made in small numbers on purpose.
- Figures from lines that have ended, unless a reissue program picks them up.
Why action figures have no retirement dates (unlike LEGO)
LEGO's own store lists sets that are retiring soon, so LEGO buyers know when a set is about to leave stores. Action figure makers don't announce anything like that. A figure simply stops showing up, and you only learn it's coming back when a reissue is announced. That makes figures much harder to time than LEGO sets.
How to hear first when a figure is coming back
- Follow toy news accounts on X with notifications on. That's how we usually hear about reprints first: news accounts post reveals from fan streams and preorder listings within minutes.
- Watch the manufacturers' events. Hasbro's fan streams and Pulse Con, Mattel's reveals, and big conventions such as San Diego Comic-Con are where reissues get announced.
- Search for a new preorder listing for the same figure at Hasbro Pulse, Mattel Creations or collector stores. A listing labeled "reissue" or "retro" means it's coming.
- Turn on store notifications (Hasbro Pulse's back-in-stock alerts) and Amazon trackers for the listing you want.
If you're holding a figure to sell
- A reprint usually pulls the price back toward retail once the new stock ships, and it can take longer to sell at a good price.
- An announcement is the warning sign. Reissue preorders typically open months before shipping, which is the window to decide whether to sell before the new stock arrives.
- See how to sell a sealed action figure collection for where and how.
Quick answers
Does Amazon restock items that say "currently unavailable"?
Sometimes, with no schedule. The message usually means nobody is selling that listing right now. It can come back if Amazon or a seller gets more stock, and in our experience the price when it returns isn't always the retail price. A free tracker such as Keepa or CamelCamelCamel can alert you.
When do Marvel Legends figures restock?
There's no set schedule. Hasbro announces Marvel Legends reissues at its fan streams and Hasbro Pulse Con, and they go up for preorder months before shipping, often through Hasbro Pulse and other Fan Channel retailers. Hasbro Pulse also posts back-in-stock items most Fridays.
Will Hasbro reprint a sold-out figure?
Sometimes. Hasbro has reissued figures with high aftermarket prices, such as Marvel Legends Power Princess, and runs Star Wars: The Black Series Archive to bring back previously released figures. Nobody outside Hasbro knows which figures are next until they're announced.
Does Mattel re-release old WWE figures?
Yes, through re-release lines such as WWE Elite Greatest Hits, Greatest Hits Legends at Target, and From the WWE Vault at Ringside Collectibles. The re-releases are usually updated with new face scans, articulation or packaging rather than exact copies.
Do exclusive action figures ever get reissued?
Rarely, but it happens. Retro Venom, a 2021 Hasbro Pulse Con exclusive, was reissued in 2026. Most retailer and convention exclusives stay gone.
How can I find out about reissues before they sell out?
Follow toy news accounts on X with notifications turned on, watch manufacturers' fan streams and convention reveals, and look for new preorder listings labeled "reissue" or "retro". Store back-in-stock alerts and Amazon price trackers help with restocks.
